Despite the terrible living and working conditions that his family encountered in Paris, Sawka pushed ahead and succeeded in mounting three solo shows.
He exhibited mostly new paintings on paper or board and prints that he had made in Poland, prior to exile. This was an important transition from pure prints to paintings.
